Shred one small or ½ large red cabbage, slice 1 large cooking apple,
& slice 1 large onion. Put into a saucepan in layers. Melt 1oz butter, add 1 tablespoon malt vinegar & 1 tablespoon brown sugar and pour over the cabbage in the saucepan. Simmer gently until cabbage and onion are cooked. Serve hot or cold.
